The latest on the Energy Company Obligation

The ECO is the grant scheme running alongside the Green Deal. It’s funded by the UK energy suppliers, and replaces a number of similar schemes such as CERT, CESP and the Warm Front scheme. The ECO was officially launched on the 1st January, but DECC have been slow to actually open each part of the scheme for applications. The scheme is split into three parts:

The ECO can pay for insulation, glazing and more

The ECO can offer free insulation, glazing and boilers to help vulnerable and ‘hard to insulate’ households

The HHCRO – Offering free cavity wall and loft insulation and boiler repairs and replacements to low income private residents

The CERO (Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation) – Offering free or partially funded solid wall insulation to anyone

The CSCO (Carbon Saving Communities Obligation) – Offering free insulation and improved glazing to residents in deprived communities

Only the HHCRO is currently operational – you can check whether you’re eligible for free insulation through the scheme and apply by visiting our HHCRO Free Insulation page. There’s no word of when the other two schemes will launch – we’ll be updating the site when there is. Why not sign up to our mailing list to be notified when the schemes launch and get other grant scheme updates?
